Pono Kai is comprised of 13 acres and 246 units in 10 three-story buildings constructed in the plantation style popular on Kauai. Unlike most Kauai condominium resorts, it includes various hotel amenities, such as the many recreation facilities. The lobby includes two activity desks for arranging golf times, luaus, helicopter sightseeing trips to the spectacular Napali Coast, and all other activities available throughout the island. A competing activity desk offering discount bargains is tucked away in a lobby shop where videos, snorkel sets, and boogie boards can be rented. A spacious shelter next to the pool contains soft drink and snack machines, bathrooms, and lots of tables and chairs for group dining in fresh air stirred by ceiling fans. High-speed Internet access is available at a kiosk in the lobby (surcharge). |

This oceanfront condominium resort offers 246 units in 10 three-story buildings. All units at Pono Kai Resort feature ocean-view lanais furnished with small tables, chairs, and lounge chairs. Full kitchens provide ample counter space and cooking and serving utensils. Rooms have rattan furniture with bright cushions and bedspreads. Some rooms have CD players. Lihue Airport (LIH): Approximate driving time to Pono Kai Resort is 15 minutes and distance is eight miles.
Driving directions from Lihue Airport: Take Ahukini Rd west. Turn right to take SR 51 (Kapule Hwy) north for about 1.3 miles. Turn right on SR 56 (Kuhio Hwy) and continue about five miles to Pono Kai Resort.
Getting there: The best option from the airport is a rental car, especially since most guests will probably want a car anyway for sightseeing. Taxis are also available for $16–$25. Fees subject to change without notice.
Getting around: Taxis are available for short trips around the area, but most attractions are best reached by car. Guest parking at the hotel is complimentary.
Policies
Christmas policy: Between December 22 and December 31, all reservations canceled less than 30 days prior to arrival will be subject to two nights' room and tax charge.
