Grounds at this six-story Hawaiian resort are filled with greens, cabanas, and hammocks under coconut trees. The historic Kalahuipua'a ponds are home to various tropical fish, sharks, and sea turtles. Guests can watch fish feedings weekly and participate in the annual release of pond-raised sea turtles each July 4th. Historians guide on-site tours of petroglyphs.
The Maui Lani Spa has nine thatched-roof outdoor treatment huts and six indoor treatment rooms for massage, skin care, body treatments, and waxing. A lava sauna, nail care, and makeup applications are also available.
Dining options include the oceanfront CanoeHouse that showcases Pacific Rim cuisine. The catering department can also prepare and serve a dinner for two, from a picnic-style meal to a formal seated meal.

Driving directions from Keahole-Kona International Airport: Exit the airport and follow signs to take State Hwy 19 (Queen Kaahumanu Hwy) north for about 19 miles. Turn left on Mauna Lani Dr and continue about one mile to the hotel.
Getting there: The best option from the airport is a rental car, particularly since most guests will want a car anyway for sightseeing. Rental cars are available online.
Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows can also arrange shuttle service ($16-$25) from the airport; contact the hotel prior to departure to make arrangements. Fees subject to change without notice.
